Sign-in is not sync
You can use Cashflow Pilot locally without an account. Signing in identifies you but does not automatically switch on Cloud Sync. Enable it separately if you want supported data shared across devices.
1. Decide where your data should live
For one device, local-only use may be enough. For multiple devices, open the account/sign-in settings and review the Cloud Sync switch. Use the same signed-in account on the devices that should share supported financial records.
2. Turn on sync deliberately
Enable Cloud Sync, then review the status while online. Changes on another device may take time to appear; confirm a harmless test change, such as a newly reviewed category, before relying on sync for a device move.
3. Know what it isn't
Cloud Sync is not a complete off-device copy of every import source, report export, generated document, historical quote, custom local view or Business attachment. Your full backup is a different feature, and Business supporting documents need a separate ZIP.
4. Protect against conflicting edits
If two devices change the same record before updates converge, Cashflow may flag a conflict. A Zero-Based monthly allocation in particular should be resolved deliberately rather than automatically merged. Back up the most complete device first, inspect the conflict, then choose the correct version.
5. Keep a recovery copy
Export Backup everything regularly and before major imports or restores. Protect the ZIP. For a full plan, see Sync, backup and recovery.
